We are pleased to provide an important update on the cemetery project—a vital initiative to establish a dedicated burial space for members of our faith. This project represents a significant step toward addressing the long-term needs of our community, and we appreciate your patience and support throughout this process.

As you are all aware, we have identified a suitable piece of land within a larger cemetery; negotiations to secure the land for use are ongoing. It’s worth noting that projects of this nature are inherently complex and require careful attention to detail. The terms of the contract are being finalized and negotiated with the utmost care to ensure that the land meets our needs while securing the best possible agreement for our community.

While we understand the eagerness to see progress, we must acknowledge that this is a slow, meticulous process. There have been several rounds of back and forth, which is to be expected given the significance of this project. Thankfully, we have been able to secure a very favorable contract, which is a testament to the careful negotiations taking place.

Brother Tariq is serving as the point person for this project and has been diligently overseeing these discussions. As of now, the final contract is being reviewed by the lawyers for approval. Even if the agreement is finalized soon, we want to manage expectations; there is still considerable work to be done before the land can be developed for use. If all goes smoothly, we anticipate that preparing the site for burials could take us into early 2026. This is not cause for concern, as there are still 22 available lots at the current cemetery we are using. Morris Hill Cemetery, which should meet our needs for the next 3 to 4 years.

This project is a testament to what we can achieve as a community when we come together with a shared vision. While the process may feel slow at times, we are committed to ensuring that every step is handled with care, precision, and the long-term benefit of the community in mind.
